Title of the article:
Graduated driver license laws don’t protect older teens: Study

Publication:
CBS News

Date of article:
9/ 14/ 2011

Summary:
This article states that graduated driver license (GDL) laws do not seem to prevent lethal accidents among teens who 18 years old. According to new study, However, the teens who have little experience and higher probability for a deadly crash simply postpone getting a license until they turn 18. Also, in most states do not even need to have driver education or training. Meanwhile, during the 1986-2007 study, entire fatal crashes of drivers are nearly 132,000. Then, the 18-year-old victim drivers have higher rate than 16-year-old drivers.

Issues:
1. Do you think that graduated driver license (GDL) laws should have corrected?
2. Why teens postpone their driver’s license until they turn 18?
3. How do you think about teens’ traffic accident?

My opinion:
I think GDL is good program for teens. However, another program should be founded for older teens. Also, we should find reasons about teens’ postponement of driver’s license and should seek appropriate strategies.
