Author: Codell Rofriguez
Title of Article: SIU eyes cash crisis, its options
Publication: The Southern Illinoisan
Date of Article: February 11, 2010

Summary
There is a concern in SIU about its funding for this year. It is, because in the worst case SIU would have $129 million of deficit by June. However, the SIU’s president said that in normal conditions SIU will be ok, at least until July. He thinks that it is only a temporary emergency.

Issues
Which is the plan in the worst case?
Is this a normal situation in SIU?
Why is the SIU´s president very quiet?

Opinion
In my opinion, it is a complicated situation, because in the normal case SIU won´t have any problems until July. However, How about the second semester? There are many aspects in the university that will have serious problems if there isn’t a solution at least in August.
