Author: The Economist

Title of the Article: Gay rights in developing countries. A well locked closet

Publication: The Economist

Date of the article: May 29th June 4th

Short summary:

There is big problematic regrading gay rights in developing countries. the article provides examples in different countries of Africa such as Burundi, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Zambia, that show the government and social intolerance for these kind of population. The article realizes as one of the biggest consequences the impossibility of gay population to access to health service and attack the HIV / AIDS. Although there has been some evolution in this matter in South Africa for example, it seems like the evolutions is just in paper and several human rights violations have affected gay population.

Issues that you can find:

Is the gay population an "special" population in order to be attacked by governments?
Does gay population deserve to do not access to health services to counteract the HVI / AIDS?
What could governments do facing this problematic?

Your opinion:

I think human rights should be a guarantee for gay population. Governments have to understand their needs. It is preferable happiness, and it is preferable they are safe and alive. Everybody decides their choices and future according to what they want in life or their personal conditions and situations.
