Wiki Wars rage in politics

This article, 'Wiki Wars' rage in politics, appeared in the Daily Egyptian but came from another newspaper. It is about Wikipedia, which is a free encyclopedia on the web; I believe that Wikipedia is a good resource for students to know about. If you are on the web and you want to know about anything, you can look it up in Wikipedia and you will find it very useful. However, it is written by people- anyone can write in and write an entry. That's why everybody now wants to write certain entries. If you are a political candidate, your rival wants to write your entry.

It is interesting that this is a way that the web has become very useful to people- it provides you very good information very quickly, and has very quickly become very necessary for our lives. But this story is also an example of how people can use a service or a good thing for their own purposes. They can put in bad information, or put a certain feeling onto the information so that dry facts seem kind of bad for certain people. The power of words is very strong. I like Wikipedia and hope that the editors can keep up their neutrality. I am interested in how the web is changing our world so quickly and how people adjust to those changes. I hope we at CESL can learn about this and prepare people for it.
