The death by stoning controversy: Iran’s internal debate
Author name: Azadeh Moaveni
Publication: Time in partnership with CNN
Date of article: July, 08, 10.
Summary of the article:
The author discusses the big event that happened in Iran last month. An old woman is called Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani, and is 43 years old. This woman is convicted of adultery. Also, the author mentions international pressures to pardon the woman, who is an adulterer. He says the Iran government executed over 100 people this year, but the timing of Sakineh announced was difficult because it comes while the Iran government does not agree with the international pressures that want to stop its nuclear program. In addition, the author mentions that international pressures continue to be imposed on the Iran government not to hurt her.
Issues that you can find:
The article presents many struggles between the Iran government and Iran human rights and prominent human rights pressure regarding Sakineh. They want to impose on the Iran government not to hurt her while Iran government wants to stone her to death.
My opinion:
I think many countries are more different than others in propaganda, behaviors, and values. Each country is able to manage its community and punish any person who makes any mistake by its codes and rules. Also, each country does not allow another country to intervene in its issues as each country has its own privacy. For example, the Iran government has a big event that many international media talk about. I think the Iran government has a code and it is able to punish any guilty person. Also, today, if any country has special events, many countries want to intervene in this country and transfer these events to political events.

It's one thing to punish someone for crimes, but there is no EVIDENCE that this woman committed a crime. She has already received 99 lashes, which is amazing that anyone can survive that. They forced her CHILDREN to watch her receive the lashes and she spent 5 years in Evin prison. Not one of our nice American prisons, which is nice by comparison. So, how do they get away with sentencing her again, for the same crime? Oh...they just make up a new crime. And as far as Sharia law? There is no man being punished for adultery, just her. (although, I wouldn't wish that on anyone.)
Are you so insensitive? Do you not have a mother or a sister, or a female friend? These countries DO NOT CARE ABOUT WOMEN, and the rest of the world is outraged that countries who claim to be CIVILIZED can use something as barbaric as STONING to punish someone.
I can't believe you read that article and don't understand what the REST OF THE ENTIRE WORLD can see. And yes, allowing uncivilized people, people who marry off CHILDREN at 9 years old, people who treat their women as DISPOSABLE, should not be in charge of nuclear weapons because they are too stupid not to blow everyone else up.
I pray for you. You should thank God you weren't born a woman in Iran.
