Saudi Arabia: Cleric calls for Muslim only maids in Saudi homes
Publication: Los Angeles Times.
Date of article: July 27, 2010.
Summary of the article:
The report talks about some advice that comes from Dr.Yousuf Ahamad, who is a doctor in the prestigious Imam Mohammad bin Saud University in Riyadh. He said people should not bring non-Muslim women household workers because they impact Muslim children. That is because non-Muslim women household workers have different religions and cultures. Also, he suggests the Saudi’s government should care about that and they should follow the government’s rule such as cover their faces with veils.
Issues that you can find:
Many Saudi people do not agree with him about not allowing non-Muslim women household workers inside their home, because they think his opinion is just a personal opinion, and they think the household workers do not effect on the children if the children have a good parent who teaches them ethics and manners.
My opinion:
I think he tries to solve many social problems that come from foreigners but we should think about that because it is very hard if we want bring just Muslims and non-Muslims are better than Muslim workers. Also, education of children completely depends on their parents; that means parents should spend a long time with their children to teach and to educate them.
