Short summary
According to this article, Scientists University of California has designed a way to decode the human cognition, such as dreams and memories from inside our brains. They said it provides a way to rebuild the thought of the people and processes associated with the brain. All this is done through MRI, which is measured blood flow through the visual cortex in the brain. Therefore, this technology can be used to communicate with people living with stroke and patients with neurodegenerative diseases.
Issue that I can find
1- Do you think that visual information is affected by cognitive processes in the brain?
2- Do you think that technology will be used safely?
3- Is disclosure of the inside of our brains something legitimate or a violation of individual privacy?
My opinion
In my view, this is more than crazy; it is an outright criminal intrusion of a personal thought and feelings. Science may be interested in ultimate technologies but to intrude into a person's brain is a crime equal to killing the very entity that makes us what we are. We must stop this crazy intrusion for intrinsic rights to mankind. On the other hand, this technology may be useful in cases of blinding or have a stroke, but it gives the right to intervene in the privacy of others. The coming years will be enough to show developments in this subject.
