Title of article: Privacy warriors sue FTC over Google's policy tweak.
Author: Kelly Fiveash
Publication: www.theregister.co.uk
Date of article: February 9, 2012
Short summary:
The Electronic Privacy Information Centre EPIC is struggling to stop or delay Google's plans to make changes to its services on 1 March. EPIC now is taking this issue to the court. EPIC says that US Federal Trade Commission FTC didn’t do anything toward this problem. On the other hand, Google refuses this accusation saying that we always protect users' privacy.
Issues:
# Do you support the reaction which EPIC is adopting now? Why?
# Do you feel worried about Google's service change?
# Can you think of any other alternative incase that Google changes its privacy policy?
# Do you think Google would stop these changes next month? Why?
My Opinion:
I think Google won't stop this process of making changes to its services next month for two reasons. First, Google feels more confidence to make such changes because it is really dominating the world internet services. Second, Google thinks that these changes will be necessary to update its system in order to protect users' privacy and they can be used as an advertisement to attract others.
Thank you,
