Bringing Home The Fries: Fast Food Comes By Delivery

Reporter: Fahad Alolayan
Author: Nancy Shute
Publication: National Public Radio
Date: 1/18/2012

Short Summary:
In many countries, there are some restaurants which people can call and get their dinner delivered. Burger King is testing home delivery in some cities in the U.S. these days. The biggest problems they have to make it successful are finding their customer's home addresses and how to maintain food's integrity while it on the way the customer's home.

Issues:
Should restaurants have this service? Why or why not?
Do you think there are some people who are in need of getting their food delivered?

My Opinion:
As we can see, different people mean different situations. So, there are a lot of people who can't go out to buy food. In fact, that is a good deal for restaurants if they could make their meals delivered. In my opinion, B.K. can make it successfully when they use the technology to find their customers homes' addresses, and to preserve food temperature.

Title of article: iPhone 4S and iPad 2 Receive First Untethered Jailbreak
Author: David Murphy
Publication: pcmag.com
Date of article: January 21, 2012

Short summary:
The Chronic Dev Team and pod2g have announced the first untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and iPad 2.This will allow any application to be installed and this will facilitate the system. But, doing such jailbreak to your iPhone 4S and iPad 2 will void your Apple warranty and waste hours begging Apple Genius Bar employees to make your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 better.

Issues:
# Do you agree to jailbreak your Iphone/Ipad ? Why?
# Do you know someone who jailbreaked his/her iphone/ipad?
# Do you think it necessary to jailbreak, for example, your iphone?
# Are you happy with your iphone/ipad without jailbreak?
# why do think Apple doesn't allow users to break iphone/ipad system?

My Opinion:
I will immediately jailbreak my iphone to get full benefit of my phone. I won't be afraid to lose my Apple warranty, and when it is necessary to update the system, I think it's not too difficult to recover the original system.
I believe Apple won't let their customers to break in iphone/ipad operating system so easily in order to force them buy the original applications from its store and to make the system more secure in the future.

thank you,

Teen Ends Globe-Circling Voyage in St. Maarten

Summary:

This article talks about a teenage girl who finished her Globe-Circling voyage. Most people very much like her bravery to sail the globe, she also has a lot of fans because of this. However, some professional record groups do not like her behavior. They said that they will not give her any credit for her action because they do not want younger people to imitate her actions. However, her was family very proud of her.

Issues:

Do you agree with those professional record groups that do not give any award for Dekker for the record?

Do you support this behavior?

If you are at teenage age, would you want to travel the world?

Opinion:

I think that those professional record groups should award Laura Dekker the record. There are not many young people who can do a thing like the thing she did. I support her behavior because people can go to school anytime they want. So, they do not have time to travel the world.

Title of article: Helping Minnesota's Homeless Kids: Studying services that work Lara
Author: Cynthia Boyd, Minnpost

Publication: Minnpost- News channel

Date of article: 1/20/2012

summary:
According to the article Helping Minnesota's Homeless Kids, In U.S.A there are more than 3,200 homeless children and they are of all ages. Most of them were of color. There are many negative effects of homelessness on kids. They are more likely to live in a dangerous life, with substance abuse, because their family is extremely poor.

Issues:
1- Why did these children become homeless?
2- Do you think the cause of the existence of homeless children is the economic recession?
3- What are the solutions that help to eliminate the issue of homeless children?

Opinion:
In my opinion, these children should join the campaign to end child homelessness. Every day these children are exposed to a lot of problems such as more health problems, developmental delays, depression, behavioral problems, and increased anxiety. In my view, we should put hand in hand to find a solution for these homeless who are living in the street. I think the effects of a human made disaster are caused by economic recession and lack of a affordable housing.

Title of article: Taiwanese can be proud of presidential election: U.S. scholar

Author: Wu and Chiang

Publication: Focus Taiwan- News channel

Date of article: 1/19, 2012

Short summary:
The 13th election of Taiwan President was finished on Jan. 14. This election was the 4th election that Taiwanese could vote to decide their own president. As the result shows Taiwanese already have promoted their sense of democracy, because the situation of vote buying was reduced in this election. It also means Taiwan has the capability to hold a peaceful and clean election. They should be proud of themselves

Issues:
How could the situation of vote buying be reduced?
Could the result of the election really show what the Taiwanese want?
What is the President going to do to improve Taiwan in next 4 years?

Opinion:
I am a big fan of politics. I feel sad about the result of this election, because I couldn't go back to Taiwan to vote. The candidate who I supported didn't win. I don't agree with the opinions in this article; the reason is in the process of this election. China's government used many ways to affect Taiwanese's choice. This was an unfair election. I feel very disappointed about my countrymen.
