Two Boys And Two Birds

Once upon a time, there was a family of father, mother, and their children, two boys. Their house was far away from the city. It was in the forest. When the parents were going to leave the house one day, they said to their boys to not go far away inside the forest. They said,"You will lose your way to the house." The parents left the hopuse, then the boys forgot their parents' advice; they went to the forest and got lost. They blamed each other and cried. After a while they found two birds; one was attractive, the other was ugly. The attractive bird said he could lead the way to their house, but the ugly bird interrupted him and he said,"He is a liar." The boys were confused. They decided to follow the attractive bird because he was beautiful. After a long time the bird that they were following was laughing. They asked him,"Why are you laughing?" he answered,"I lied to you because you chose me for my beauty; you didn't think of my hoesty," then he left them. The boys were tired, so they slept in the forest. They were starving and cold. They woke up by the sunshine in the next day. Fortunately they found the ugly bird, who was the honest one, then he led them to their house and he said,"Don't forget your parents' advice."

In the article, "Sleep apnea in kids linked to brain damage," the author says "sleep apnea" is not good for children because it may have a bad influence on children's brain. It is very related to cognitive function in a brain like remembering, and learning. If a child has it, the child's verbal skills are worse than a normal child. However, some professor said it is not necessarily cause of the damage. Also, sleep apnea can be cured. A child who has sleep apnea keeps the windpipe open when he or she is sleeping.

I am interested by the news because I had never heard this disease before I read it, so I could learn new information. I think this information is necessary for parents who have young children. Since children cannot notice this disease, they are careful of their children’s sleeping styles when they are sleeping.

Wiki Wars rage in politics

This article, 'Wiki Wars' rage in politics, appeared in the Daily Egyptian but came from another newspaper. It is about Wikipedia, which is a free encyclopedia on the web; I believe that Wikipedia is a good resource for students to know about. If you are on the web and you want to know about anything, you can look it up in Wikipedia and you will find it very useful. However, it is written by people- anyone can write in and write an entry. That's why everybody now wants to write certain entries. If you are a political candidate, your rival wants to write your entry.

It is interesting that this is a way that the web has become very useful to people- it provides you very good information very quickly, and has very quickly become very necessary for our lives. But this story is also an example of how people can use a service or a good thing for their own purposes. They can put in bad information, or put a certain feeling onto the information so that dry facts seem kind of bad for certain people. The power of words is very strong. I like Wikipedia and hope that the editors can keep up their neutrality. I am interested in how the web is changing our world so quickly and how people adjust to those changes. I hope we at CESL can learn about this and prepare people for it.

New law in Colombia

I've read an article about new law in Colombia to accept new abortion law. Many people in Colombia think the government should accept this law and make it illegal for some cases for example, rapes, incest and deformities. Moreover, there is new law that if going to save the mother life. This new law started after young girl got pregnant after her stepfather raped her. The girl didn't do her abortion after she got the agreement from the court. One of the highest bishop said the abortion in Colombia shouldn't be legal.

I think the abortion shouldn't be legal in term of my belief and my religion. The reason why I believe that should be legal is for human been respect. Moreover, the countries that have rate of rapes, incest should find a new punishments for the people who do these thinks. But foot the baby who has severe physical deformities we can't do anything for them because this is their destiny these based on my religion and my believe.

The murder of JonBenet

I read JonBenet: The case that gripped America in BBC News Online. It told about the murder of JonBenet Ramsey in 1996 and gave a little background of the case, which helps us understand what is happening now with John Mark Karr. The public was very interested in this case, and always thought that the parents were guilty. They were mad at the parents for not telling the press much and for putting the child on stage as a young girl.

I think the parents are victims not only of a terrible murderer, who is probably not them, but also of their own ideas of what a good little girl should be. They should not have pushed the little girl on stage. I say this not because it is dangerous, but, because I think the girl could do other things that would be better for her. Being cute and charming is good but it's not everything. She could have had a better childhood. It's really a tragedy.
